Valentine’s Day

Today is Valentine’s Day, the festival of love celebrated the world over with hearts, flowers, candy and sparkly jewelry for those who love and are loved. There will be candlelit dinners and undying confessions of heartfelt sentiment for some. There might even be a few marriage proposals and for certain there will be a whole lot of kanoodling going on.

That being said, not everyone will have a good day. There will be those for whom no florist delivery arrives. They sit by the phone, waiting for the call that doesn’t come. There will be no heart adorned greeting cards in their mail, or secret notes of adoration tucked under the windshield wiper of their car. There will be no chocolate, save what they buy themselves. And when evening comes, the only company they have to look forward to is their own.

Be kind to the people you meet today, for some never let show the loneliness that fills their heart. Be kind to those you meet tomorrow, for disappointment sometimes waits until the day after to arrive.

If you have a special person in your life, don’t wait for the one day a year to show it – make each and every day special. If you don’t have someone to share today with, spoil yourself. Have faith – believe – have faith. Your time will come. And when it’s here,  just say “Bring it, Cupid!”   🙂
